During your consultation with Dr. Broujerdi he will discuss with you whether you are a candidate for silicone or saline implant and your desired size. He will also consider with you  the surgical approach and placement options that best suit your anatomy.

An inframammary approach meaning from under the breast . This route is ideal for patients that already have a breast skin fold. Periareolar route is around the nipple areolia complex, incision is usually a crescent in shape at the lower pole if the areola.  Transaxillary approach is from the armpit. Both the periareolar and transaxillary incisions are well concealed.

Placement of the implant in the appropriate pocket is very important decision. A subglandular pocket, meaning under the breast tissue and above the pectoral, or chest muscle; or submuscularly pocket, meaning beneath the pectoral muscle. Most implants are placed in a submuscular pocket. Some patients are better candidates for placement of implant in a subglandular pocket. Dr. Broujerdi prefers performing your breast augmentation as an out-patient at a certified ambulatory surgical center in most cases (sometimes at the hospital). He will utilize FDA approved implants fabricated by Allergan Inc. or Mentor Inc. only. He will see you the next day at the office for a post operative check-up. You should expect a minimum of one week of down time after this procedure, some patient will require longer healing period.
